THE PEACH ORCHARD

THE PEACH ORCHARD, part of the John L. Sherfy Farm, witnessed bloody carnage on July 2 as Union Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Sickles, against orders, marched his II Corps into the area, creating an exposed salient. Sickles lost his leg and risked losing the battle.
