My Dear General
Yours of 13th inst. just reached me here, where I am for a few days. I have no knowledge of the affair in question and McG never alluded to it in my presence. I seldom ever met him in the field, hence his not having told me, is no proof that he did not tell others.
I think I can find Dow, and it is barely possible (Majo--Crossed out) Genl. Charles Hamlin of Bangor/ who was at the time a Major & AG, and on Humphreys staff mey know something of it, as he and McG were intimate. Shall see him next ?.
Genl H.J. Hunt anything I can do to help you out, will cheerfully be done. I think Dow is here, and shall try to see him tomorrow. Dont some of Genl. Tylers Staff know about it?
Yours Very Truly
James A Hall
