Public Involvement to Date: The NPS has conducted seven different public meetings to discuss plans for the visitor center and museum partnership and to gather comment. Three public review periods were established, totalling more than four and a half months for public comment.

April 1 995 The concept of a public/private partnership to build a new museum at Gettysburg NMP was first announced. After several months of consideration'. three public meetings, and 65 days of public review, the plans were dropped from further consideration in order to look at more options and allow for a nation-wide call for partnership proposals.

August 1995 The NPS announced that it would work with the public to carefully determine park needs before any specific plans would be pursued.

Fall 1 995 The park initiates a public scoping process, including questionnaires, two public meetings, and 30 days of public review.

April 1996 Based on the public scoping process, a draft development concept plan for Collections Storage, Visitor & Museum Facilities was published. Two more public meetings were held and the plan was opened for 45 days of public review.

December 1 996 The Request for Proposals was issued.
