The main force Andersons division encamped last night 9 miles NW of Gettysburg on Chambersburg pike - At base of S. Mountain 1 mile beyond Cashtown One regiment of infty came near Gettysburg at 11 A.M. and retired as I advanced. The main force is believed to be marching north of Gettysburg through Mumasburg, Hunterstown, Hampton + towards Berlin and York I will send parties out on roads towards the supposed position of the enemy -

Yours has been [?]+ been received Nothing has been learned of Col Alexanders Command and I have pushed the pickets, or rather the rear guard of the Rebs 6 miles towards Cashtown. I am satisfied that the force that here this morning was the same that I found at Fairfield. I have pushed parties on all the approaches to town Have heard nothing more than what I have already sent I can do nothing more at present, or will be on foot everything is
I am very respectfully
